Captain Bed Upreti

Captain Bed Upreti is a visionary aviation entrepreneur, seasoned pilot, and devoted philanthropist from Nepal, whose passion for flying and commitment to social impact have left a remarkable legacy in the country. With over two decades of experience in both military and commercial aviation—including service in the Nepal Army and as a pilot for Kingfisher Airlines—Captain Upreti has combined his technical expertise with a deep sense of purpose. In 2014, he founded the Bed Upreti Trust and transformed his life savings into a national project by establishing Nepal’s first aircraft museum in Dhangadhi using a decommissioned Fokker-100 aircraft.

This groundbreaking initiative was later followed by a second, even larger museum in Kathmandu, created inside an Airbus A330-300 with the support of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Everest Bank. These museums serve as unique educational spaces, inspiring thousands of young minds to dream of aviation careers while also supporting cancer patients through the museum’s proceeds. Alongside his role as CEO of the Aircraft Museum, Captain Upreti continues to fly as an instructor and examiner with Lion Air in Indonesia. He is also the author of Everest From the Air, a personal reflection on his lifelong journey and invaluable contributions to Nepal’s aviation landscape.
